Machine Capability

High-Definition CNC Plasma Cutting

Our workshop runs a CN-Seamless Mach 1 CNC plasma cutting system — a high-definition table delivering smooth, near-vertical cut edges with minimal dross, ready for weld prep with little to no secondary grinding, with pierce cutting capability up to 150mm thick plate. Every profile is cut directly from your DXF or DWG file, or drafted in-house from your drawing, sketch or template. And when the job can't come to us, our portable CNC cutting equipment comes to you — on board, on the wharf or on your site.

What We Cut

Custom Plate Profiling & Component Cutting

Marine Insert Plates & Doublers

Cropped and renewed hull, deck and tank-top plating cut to surveyor-approved dimensions, with full mill certificate traceability for DNV, LR, BV and ABS class repairs.

Brackets, Gussets & Stiffeners

Structural brackets, tripping brackets, gussets and web stiffeners profiled to drawing — single pieces or nested production runs with minimal material waste.

Flanges, Rings & Blanks

Pipe flanges, backing rings, blind flanges and spade blanks cut to ANSI, DIN or custom dimensions in mild steel, stainless and aluminium.

Manhole Covers & Access Plates

Tank access covers, manhole covers and bolted inspection plates cut, drilled and dressed — supplied bare or fully fabricated with gasket faces.

Machinery Base & Foundation Plates

Engine seat chocks, pump base plates, crane pedestal plates and foundation components cut to templated or CAD dimensions.

Signage, Templates & One-Offs

Wear plates, chafe plates, cutting templates and one-off custom parts — if it can be drawn, it can be cut.

On-Site CNC Cutting

Portable CNC cutting deployed to your vessel, wharf or facility — precision-cut insert openings, cropping of damaged structure and profiling in place where removal isn't practical.

Send Your Drawing

Email a DXF/DWG, PDF drawing, hand sketch or physical template. No CAD file? We'll draft it for you.

02

Quote & Material

We confirm grade, thickness, quantity and certification needs, then quote with lead time — often same day.

03

Nest & Cut

Parts are nested for material efficiency and cut on our high-definition CNC plasma table.

FAQ

CNC Cutting — Common Questions

What thickness can you cut with CNC plasma?

Our CNC plasma system pierce cuts plate up to 150mm thick — covering the heaviest structural sections, machinery seats and marine plate. Stainless steel and aluminium capacities are subject to grade and finish requirements.

Do you offer on-site CNC cutting?

Yes. Alongside our Smithfield workshop, we deploy portable CNC cutting equipment to vessels, wharves and industrial sites — ideal for cutting insert plate openings, cropping damaged structure and profiling parts in place where removal is impractical.

Can you cut certified marine-grade steel for class-approved repairs?

Yes. Qualships is DNV and Lloyd's Register approved. We regularly cut Grade A, AH36, DH36 and EH36 shipbuilding plate with full mill certificate traceability for class-surveyed hull and structural repairs.

What file formats do you accept?

DXF and DWG CAD files load directly to the machine. We also work from PDF drawings, hand sketches and physical templates — our team drafts the cutting profile in-house at no fuss.

How fast can you turn around urgent vessel repair parts?

For vessels alongside in Sydney, we offer same-day cutting of insert plates, doublers and brackets from our Smithfield workshop with direct delivery to the wharf. Interstate ports are supported through freight and our local partner network.

Do you only cut, or can you fabricate and install as well?

Both. Cutting is the front end of a complete workflow: bevelling, fit-up, coded welding, NDT, coating and on-site installation under class survey. One supplier from plate to sign-off.
