Gasket Fabrication · Smithfield NSW Workshop
Flange gaskets, manhole joints, hatch cover rubber and machinery gaskets fabricated to drawing, standard dimensions or the worn gasket in your hand. Marine-grade materials, matched to the medium, delivered to the wharf.
DNV Approved Lloyd's Register Approved ISO 9001 · 14001 · 45001 Certified Same-day cutting for vessels in port On-board templating & fittingMaterial Range
A gasket that fails costs far more than the gasket. We select and cut the correct material for the fluid, temperature and pressure of your system — from seawater lines to steam joints to fuel oil flanges — in thicknesses from 0.5mm to 25mm.
| Material | Typical Service | Temperature Range | Common Applications |
|---|---|---|---|
| Non-Asbestos Compressed Fibre | Steam, oil, water, gas | up to 400°C | General flange joints, engine components, CAF replacement |
| Nitrile (NBR) Rubber | Fuel & lube oil | −30°C to 110°C | Fuel system flanges, purifier joints, sump gaskets |
| EPDM / Neoprene Rubber | Seawater, fresh water | −40°C to 120°C | Cooling water lines, ballast systems, pump joints |
| Viton (FKM) | Aggressive fuels & chemicals | −20°C to 200°C | High-temp fuel joints, chemical service flanges |
| PTFE (Virgin & Filled) | Chemicals, food-grade | −100°C to 260°C | Chemical lines, hygienic flanges, low-friction seals |
| Graphite Laminate | Steam & exhaust | up to 550°C | Boiler joints, exhaust flanges, high-temp manways |
| Cork-Rubber & Insertion Rubber | Oil, light duty sealing | up to 100°C | Gearbox covers, inspection plates, tank lids |
| Spiral Wound & Metallic | High pressure / temperature | to spec | Boiler manways, high-pressure steam & hydraulic flanges — supplied to order |
Temperature and service ranges are indicative — final selection confirmed against your system parameters and OEM specifications.
What We Fabricate
Full-face and ring (IBC) gaskets cut to ANSI, DIN, JIS, table and custom dimensions — singles, sets or complete piping system packages.
Manway, tank access and inspection cover joints in oval, round, obround and custom profiles — including toggled and dogged cover styles.
Hatch cover sealing rubber supplied and fitted, including corner pieces and joints — supporting ultrasonic tightness testing and PSC rectification.
End cover, division plate and shell gaskets for coolers, condensers and heat exchangers — cut from sample or maker's drawing.
Rocker covers, sump joints, casing gaskets, turbocharger joints and purifier gaskets for main and auxiliary machinery.
Our engineers attend on board to template odd or worn flange faces directly, then cut and fit the gasket — one visit, sealed and signed off.
Why Qualships
We're not a gasket counter — we're the ship repair company that also cuts the gasket. That means the joint gets assessed, the flange gets dressed if it needs it, and the gasket goes in right.
Send the old gasket, a template, or the component itself — we reverse-engineer the profile. No drawing required.
Material selected by marine engineers against fluid, temperature and pressure — not just what's on the shelf.
Flange dressing, joint assembly, torqueing and leak testing available with every gasket we cut.
Same-day cutting and wharf delivery in Sydney; national reach via Newcastle, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
How It Works
Old gasket, drawing, flange dimensions or a standard callout (e.g. ANSI 150 DN100 full face, 3mm NBR).
We confirm the correct material and thickness for the service medium, temperature and pressure.
Gasket cut, dimensionally checked against the sample or drawing, and marked for identification.
Collected, couriered or wharf-delivered — or fitted on board by our engineers with the joint made up and tested.
Industries Served
Supporting chief engineers, superintendents, maintenance planners and procurement teams across marine and heavy industry.
FAQ
Yes. Send us the old gasket, a paper template or even the flange itself and we'll reverse-engineer the profile and cut a matching replacement. No drawing needed.
Non-asbestos compressed fibre (CAF replacement), nitrile, EPDM, neoprene and viton rubber, PTFE, graphite laminate, cork-rubber and insertion rubber — in thicknesses from 0.5mm to 25mm. Spiral wound and metallic gaskets are supplied to order.
For vessels alongside in Sydney we offer same-day gasket cutting and delivery to the wharf from our Smithfield workshop. Our engineers can also attend on board to template and fit gaskets directly.
Yes. We match the material to the service medium — nitrile and viton for fuel and lube oil, EPDM and neoprene for seawater and fresh water, graphite and non-asbestos fibre for steam and exhaust.
Yes — that's the difference of using a marine engineering company. We dress the flange faces, fit the gasket, make up the joint to correct torque and leak test on completion.
Send a photo of the old gasket or your flange dimensions for a fast, no-obligation quote. Urgent vessel jobs prioritised.
